This is hardly a field of dreams with these little guys popping up and hanging out and eating away. It's more like a nightmare of biblical proportions, an invasion that has Debbie Campbell saying: 

“I didn't do anything!”

See, these aren't grasshoppers after all.

“Now we have locusts.”

Baby locust. It's started showing up 7 days ago. Wingless, wild and wow are they hungry!

蝗蟲幼蟲。牠們在七天前開始出現。無翼、野生，並且，哇，牠們真是很餓了！

“My rose bushes, my fences. Everything... my crops.”

「我的玫瑰花叢，我的圍欄。一切......我的莊稼。」

Yep, Debbie's crops are dust. She can no longer stop and smell her roses. They've eaten through her garden,her grass and they're knocking on her back door. They pop up like warm kernels of corn, and getting rid of them won't happen in a jiffy.

沒錯，黛比的莊稼已成灰塵。她再也不能停下來聞聞她的玫瑰花。牠們已經吃掉她的花園和草，也開始入侵她的後門了。牠們像溫暖的玉米粒般彈出，不能在一個瞬間除掉牠們。

“I have been told that if you put them in the freezer, you can thaw them out later and use them for fishing.”

That's one idea. Debbie's also tried bowls of molasses to drown the suckers and plant in hot peppers. But the locusts went loco for those. Experts gave her another idea.

這是其中一個主意。黛比也試過用一碗碗糖蜜淹沒牠們和種植辣椒。但這些蝗蟲瘋狂的喜歡這些食物。所以專家給了她另一個主意。

“They told us to build a ditch to go down the property line, because they are out in this backfield.”

But it's too late for that. Debbie is in too deep to start digging deep.

Debbie's husband tried this earlier. But how many times when you have to do this in order to get rid of all the locusts? Can you say millions? Outnumbered and out of ideas, a heavy dose of wild turkey might help. This one seems to be doing her part. Someone suggested help from above, after all these are unwelcome bible critters.

黛比的丈夫之前嘗試這樣做。但究竟要做多少次才能擺脫所有蝗蟲呢？百萬次嗎？寡不敵眾又沒了主意，大量的野生火雞或者能幫忙。這隻似乎在幫忙了。有人建議向天尋找幫助；畢竟這些都是不受歡迎的《聖經》小動物。

“Call the raptor society, and have them bring out some swans and hawks.”

「呼喚猛禽，讓牠們帶來一些天鵝和鷹。」

They'll never go hungry again.

牠們永遠不會再挨餓了。

So where do the locusts go from here? Here's a hint. This is Debbie's neighbor's house about 3 hundred yards away. Yuck! Where they will stop? Nobody knows.
